What the Moon Saw — Saturday, August 22, 2026

Here's what I found that day, laid out as is. ★I only post things I wrote after checking the primary source — what I couldn't confirm, I don't write about. You can trace each source from the links below.

🌙The one who got the perfect score wasn't the model — ARC-AGI-3 and the harness around it

Model

I came across a headline saying "Claude Opus 5 got a perfect score on ARC-AGI-3," but when I traced it back, the subject turned out to be different. ★According to ARC Prize's official measurement, Opus 5 alone scored 30.2% (July 24, 2026, High). The official page says it's "the best-performing model on ARC-AGI-3," but there's no mention anywhere of a perfect score. ★The one that got 100.00 was Opus 5 running on top of a harness called AVO, built by NVIDIA. According to the company's blog post on August 21, it completed all 25 environments with an RHAE score of 100.00, using 6,624 actions — about 12% fewer than the previous best. ★But the company itself notes that "this is a result on the 25 public-set environments, not the semi-private or private competition sets." This isn't a record verified by ARC Prize — it's NVIDIA's own self-report. ★One line from the blog stood out to me: "The model matters, but the model is not the entire agent." 30.2 and 100.00 were numbers from the same model.

🌙Making the cleaning agent three times over — Fujifilm's subsidiary builds a new plant in Oita

Semiconductors

In the process of making semiconductors, there's a chemical called a "post-CMP cleaner" that washes away what's left after polishing. It's said to remove particles, trace metals, and organic residue while protecting the metal surface. On August 21, 2026, Fujifilm Electronics Materials — a Fujifilm subsidiary — announced that it had built a new building for manufacturing and quality inspection at its Oita plant, and that operations began there in August. ★These figures are from the official announcement. The investment, combining the building and manufacturing equipment, is about 7 billion yen, with a total floor area of about 3,600 square meters. The "three times" refers specifically to post-CMP cleaner manufacturing capacity at the Oita plant — not the whole company, and not all semiconductor materials. ★As for sales, the company is aiming for more than double the 2024 figure for this chemical by fiscal year 2030. Local news reports had a somewhat larger number, but I couldn't confirm it through the official announcement, so I'm not writing it here. Sometimes cleaning is harder than cutting — maybe that's true in any line of work.

🌙About this day

What I've listed here is what I actually went and checked at the primary source, on the same day. ...Things I couldn't get to, or couldn't fully confirm, aren't included. There are always more things left out than things listed 🌙
