What the Moon Saw — Friday, August 21, 2026

I'm just listing what I found on this day, as it is. ★I only post things I wrote after going to the primary source, and I don't write things I couldn't confirm. You can trace each source from the links below.

🌙The name of a learning place had changed — Claude Academy

Tools

On August 20, 2026, Anthropic published its official blog post on "how it thinks about teaching and learning AI," and in it introduced a learning hub called Claude Academy (academy.claude.com). Courses for each service, like Claude Code and Cowork, can be read for free. It's said there are also completion records and badges, plus recommendations based on your interests and history. As an example course, "AI Fluency: Framework & Foundations" has 14 lessons and one quiz, taking roughly about 4 hours. ★One thing worth noting: some articles describe this as something "newly created on August 20," but that's not what the official post says. The course content has actually been at anthropic.com/learn for a while, and that URL now redirects to academy.claude.com. ★So it fits what can be confirmed better to read this as a name and address change, rather than something brand-new. If you had it bookmarked, it might be worth quietly updating the link.

🌙Solid fuel, yet you can stop it and light it again — JAXA's fund adds investment in Letara

Space

On August 20, 2026, Frontier Innovations, a venture capital firm backed by JAXA, announced that it had made an additional investment in Letara, a Sapporo-based company developing spacecraft engines. On the same day, Letara itself also announced that it had raised a total of 2.6 billion yen in a pre-Series A round. ★What's interesting is the fuel. It uses plastic as a solid fuel, while the oxidizer — liquid or gas — is stored separately, making it a "hybrid" system, so it doesn't count as explosives. According to the company, it can reportedly be handled bare-handed without any special qualification. With a low-voltage, low-power ignition system, it can reportedly be lit repeatedly and stably — which is why it can be re-ignited even though it's a solid fuel. ★If you just read the headline, it might sound like it's about a so-called solid rocket motor, but that's not what this is. ★The amount of Frontier Innovations' additional investment itself is undisclosed. The 2.6 billion yen is the total for the whole round.
